With their profound take on electronic music, Animistic Beliefs have steadily solidified their spot in the global underground. Influenced by cultural concepts such as ancestry, animism and mythology, as well as the languages of political techno, punk, bubbling and IDM, Linh Luu and Marvin Lalihatu consistently translate their visions into sensitive productions as well as high-octane live performances. On their new record, MERDEKA (NAAFI, 2022), the artists explore and embrace their cultural heritage in all of its pride, pain and complexity.
KADAPAT
Kadapat is a music project by Yogi and Barga and based in Bali, Indonesia. Using Balinese white/black magic as a spirit in experimental electronic-gamelan music with the aim of conveying traditions and urban legend.
Getting to know Kadapat means meeting millennial youth from the suburbs of Bali who were taught gamelan and its traditions from a young age. Not only technically skilled, they also performs gamelan for traditional and religious ceremonies in Banjar, a neighborhood authorized to regulate and manage the community, based on local tradition and manners. They’re intensely dealing with the conservative norms and its transcendental cosmology. As millennial entities, they are also embeded in urban culture, technology, and Balinese cosmopolitanism. These hybrid identities become increasingly complex when they experience the dimensions of formal art education with a western pedagogical system.
MAIRAKILLA
Bali born and raised — DJ, dancer and drummer, Maira Yamanaka aka Mairakilla is one of the most exciting acts in Bali with her ability to carry a wide range, rapid rhythms and energized bass sets with aesthetic expression — with influence drawn from anime culture and console games. Born as Japanese-Indonesian from a dancer mother and a DJ father, Mairakilla is an artist driven by hardwork and dedication which then leads to her natural and organic versatile talent.

Born and raised in Bandung, Raissa Dwi Febriani or better known as Raissa has started to explore the contemporary dance music scene since her move to Bali in 2018. She continued her exploration of percussive sounds and dance rhythms. In 2021 she debuted her EP titled ‘Durma’ via NON ARCHIVE, followed by her contribution to the “ARSIP 001” Compilation and remix version of ‘Durma’ EP.

RANDOMBROTHERS is an Indonesian Electronic music formed by Nara Anindyaguna and Randy Danistha, the two parts of brothers are joined with a strong connection between music and soul & were sparked off by the analog synthesizer combined with modern technology so that the music is sound so distinctive. They made this project RANDOM BROTHERS BY BLOOD, as a place to experiment a hybrid genre between music and technology, which blends pop and electronic borders, and showcases the talents of 2 fascinating passionate pop culture craftsmen, bored with hierarchy, combining elements of pop music with dark disco techno, and synthpop influences.
