Felicia Chen has long resisted simple categorization. She cut her teeth operating in New York City’s scrappy, DIY and experimental club scenes, channeling a passion for pop music, metal, rap, and global dance forms into unpredictable multi-layered DJ sets that harmonized with the US East Coast’s relentless noise. And when she released her debut album PURGE on the PTP imprint in 2019 it substantiated her artistic voice, refining her vast pool of influences into a cathartic distillate that oozes between vulnerable beauty and retching chaos. “This ain’t just your run-of-the-mill wall of power electronics and angry screams,” wrote The Quietus. As a DJ she’s become notorious for her curiosity and restless energy, and as a live performer she edges away from the club completely, using her acrobatic voice and entire body to transmit emotional complexity that’s deeper than language.
XNBTNI
UK
XNBTNI is the sonic counterpart of designer and curator; Nazifa Begum. Begum has long been a staple part of the London underground having closely worked behind the scene of Bala club for its duration, whilst simultaneously cultivating a following on her own fashion label.
XNBTNI then went on to co-found one of London’s most sought-after parties and label Gutterring; who were infamous for occupying abandoned locations and organizing large-scale parties with finely curated line up. XNBTNI herself seamlessly waves through grime, trap, dubstep, baile funk all the way through to techno and all forms of hard dance. Her anti-purist sets have taken her international, as well as been featured with the likes of Unseelie, Window.de and a regular show on NTS, most prominently a recent release of a solid set with Boiler Room Festival Amsterdam in 2022.
For her long history in the music scene, XNBTNI also often assists fashion designers in pairing them with producers / musicians for sound tracking LFW shows and further projects as they put faith in her as one of London’s respected taste makers. Her fashion work ties her with London’s independent designer concept boutique Fantastic Toiles, ShowStudio and overseas with the likes of Japan’s Radd lounge and more. Previous projects have featured a range of musicians from Yves Tumor to Ecco2k, to personal styling work for FKA Twigs.
FLOYD
Floyd is a pseudonym for Tyara Pradini. A neurodivergent, queer mother who enjoys reading and making mixtapes in their past time. They are one of the person behind some of the underground parties happening in Bali around 2017-2019. Learning how to record songs that played on the radio to a cassette from their uncle early on, the habit grew into making mixtapes in CDs, working in a radio, and now starting over as a DJ after taking a sabbatical to focus on being a mother. Floyd’s sets will take you into a groovy journey, highly influenced but not limited to 90s UK club kids, and Asian-African rhythm.
MAIRAKILLA
Bali born and raised — DJ, dancer and drummer, Maira Yamanaka aka Mairakilla is one of the most exciting acts in Bali with her ability to carry a wide range, rapid rhythms and energized bass sets with aesthetic expression — with influence drawn from anime culture and console games. Born as Japanese-Indonesian from a dancer mother and a DJ father, Mairakilla is an artist driven by hardwork and dedication which then leads to her natural and organic versatile talent.
PLAUR
Bali-based DJ, producer, ORBITWARE founder and multi-disciplinary designer, Bagus Purwoko aka Plaur found his niche in the underground music scene from a vast range of global influence via the internet. He spent more than a decade working in the local music scene pro bono which later brought him to connect with people in the communities. He is known for his extensive blend of contemporary club music with a knack of harmonic pop twists on his DJ sets.
RAISSA
Born and raised in Bandung, Raissa Dwi Febriani or better known as Raissa has started to explore the contemporary dance music scene since her move to Bali in 2018. She continued her exploration of percussive sounds and dance rhythms. In 2021 she debuted her EP titled ‘Durma’ via NON ARCHIVE, followed by her contribution to the “ARSIP 001” Compilation and remix version of ‘Durma’ EP.
